Thanksgiving Food Basket Distribution
The Knights of Columbus Janssens Council # 3068 once again distributed Thanksgiving Food Baskets to needy families of St. Bernard Parish.
The council started out several years ago distributing 25 Food Baskets. Using funds raised through various avenues, but mainly the Louisiana Crawfish Festival where we sell Crawfish Fried Rice and Corn and Crawfish Soup, we were able to gradually add to the number of baskets year after year. The baskets are supplemented with non-perishable food items donated by the school students. This year we also solicited the help of the Church parishioners by placing a collection basket in the rear of the Church for several weeks. Between the funds from the Council, the Students, and the parishioners, we were able to help 63 families this year.
On distribution day, the Altar servers came out to help fill the boxes. By looking at the pictures, I am pretty sure that they had as much fun breaking down the left over boxes as they had filling the others.
The members of the Knights of Columbus Council # 3068 would like to thank everyone that made it possible and to the Altar servers that worked hard on distribution day.
